Licensing
Our packs are sold on Fab. If you need something different, just ask.
Please check Fab's current licence before you buy. Fab sets these terms and can change them. This page explains them in plain English as they stood in October 2026, when Fab's licence was dated 1 October 2024. It isn't legal advice, and if anything here differs from Fab's licence, Fab's licence is the one that counts. You can read it in full in the Fab End User License Agreement.
Buying on Fab
Every pack on our Fab store comes with Fab's Standard License. When you buy, you choose one of its two tiers, Personal or Professional. Fab takes care of payment, VAT, downloads and refunds.
Personal or Professional?
The tier you need depends on your revenue over the last 12 months:
- Personal if you've made no more than US$100,000 in gross revenue from commercial activity in the digital content industry.
- Professional if you've made more than that.
When you add it up, include any company that controls you and any other companies under the same control. Advances you've received and other money you've raised count too.
Both tiers give you the same rights. If you buy a tier you aren't eligible for, Epic can ask you to pay the difference.
What both tiers let you do
- Use the animations in personal or commercial projects.
- Edit them and retarget them to your own characters.
- Release games, films, videos and other projects that use them, on your own or through a publisher. In a game or other interactive project, you mustn't allow players to extract the animations or use them outside it.
- Use them in any compatible software, not just Unreal Engine.
- Share them with your employees and contractors while they work on your projects. They mustn't pass them on, and must delete them when they no longer need them.
- Use them without crediting us, though we'd love to see what you make.
If your company buys a pack, the licence belongs to the company, so everyone working on its projects can use it. There's no separate studio licence to buy.
What neither tier allows
- Selling the animation files themselves, giving them away or passing them to anyone outside your projects, whether on their own or as the main part of another product, such as an asset pack.
- Putting them in tools, templates or editors that let other people use or export them in their own projects.
- Uploading them to Second Life, IMVU or a similar virtual world, or selling them there (see below).
- Using them in datasets for generative AI, or to develop or train generative AI. Our listings on Fab say "Allows usage with AI: No".
These are the main limits, not all of them. Fab's licence lists the rest.
Second Life, IMVU and similar virtual worlds
Fab's licence doesn't allow you to upload our animations to virtual worlds such as Second Life and IMVU, or to any similar world where people upload items to use and trade. Nor can you sell or give them to other people there. That's still the case if you:
- sell them for Linden dollars or any other virtual currency, because that's still selling;
- give them away for free;
- only want to use them on your own avatar;
- edit or retarget them first;
- put them inside furniture, a dance HUD or any other item;
- set them to no copy, no modify or no transfer.
Uploading the animations to these worlds, or selling or giving them to people there, means passing on the animations themselves, which Fab's licence doesn't allow. And these worlds don't allow content you don't have the rights to either.
If you'd like dances for Second Life or IMVU, you'll find them in our Abranimations® stores, made for use in-world.
Need something Fab's licence doesn't cover?
If you'd like to use the animations in a way Fab's licence doesn't allow, or you need different terms for a larger production, email contact@awesomedog.com and tell us about your project.
Bought somewhere other than Fab?
Fab's licence, explained above, only covers packs bought on Fab. Wherever you buy, the licence that comes with your purchase is the one that applies:
- Unity Asset Store or Reallusion's marketplace (for iClone): some of our packs are sold there too, under that store's own licence. Please check its terms before you buy.
- Our old store at awesomedog.co.uk: those purchases came with our own licence, and you can still read it here: licence for purchases from our old store.
AI and dataset licensing
If you'd like to use our motion data to train or test AI models, or include it in a dataset, we can agree a separate licence with you. Email contact@awesomedog.com with a few details of what you have in mind.
